Program Details

Experience the beauty of Ecuador and climb active volcanoes above 20,000 feet, Cayambe and Chimborazo. Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador with an elevation of  20,702 ft. Chimborazo’s location along the equatorial bulge makes its summit the farthest point on Earth’s surface from the Earth’s center. A short approach and a convenient hut system help to make these mountains attainable for the average mountaineer. Although it is a technical peak, it is the perfect place for aspiring climbers to begin training and hone their skills. This LRCC expedition will include 6 training sessions at LRCC or nearby outdoor locations so participants can get a head start on the skills they will need on the mountain. Once we arrive in Ecuador, the team will  meet their guides and begin getting geared up. We will spend some time getting acclimatized with a climb of Rucu Pichincha (15,696′) and then continue our training on the way up the mountains. Glacier travel, ice axes & crampons, and crevasse rescue are just a few of the skills you will be learning. This 9 day trip includes all in-country travel and lodging. A 3-month membership is included along with personal training to help prepare you for the trip. International airfare, trip & travel insurance, meals in town, and tips are not included. Trip dates are Dec 27th 2017-Jan 4th 2018. For more information and a detailed itinerary please contact Logan at LRCC.
